To fill in blanks the Twitter rumor was talks involved J.R. Smith and a future pick of ours. I can't remember the rest verbatim. It was also out there we were talking to other teams.jodaman01 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 10:07 amSo you don’t think the Wolves made any calls....none to Cleveland.....or returned any call from Teams lower than them in the draft to see if they could fleece them.j2j wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 10:01 am What I've read about the Culver pick is we had Garland and Culver on the same tier, and we has 5 guys we liked including the obvious top 3. Hunter going 4 pushed 2 of the guys we wanted down. Cleveland wanted too much to move to 5.
Getting to 6 was fairly cheap. After the pick we took a bunch of calls and we turned them all down. We weren't making the calls.
C’Mon Man!
I would honestly think less of Rosas if he hadn’t, but have no doubt he did.

Re: Wolves in on D'Angelo Russell?
Yep. We looked at trading up to 4 or 5 but the price was too steep in giving up Cov. We weren't doing that so we ended up getting to 6 knowing Garland could/would be gone as the mocks stated as much. There is nothing out there stating we were looking to trade Culver after we drafted him.j2j wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 10:01 am What I've read about the Culver pick is we had Garland and Culver on the same tier, and we has 5 guys we liked including the obvious top 3. Jod is correct. This is another example of people being dicks, having poor memories, not paying attention or just lying. Then putting the responsibility on him to provide evidence of something people can look up themselves. It is not his fault you were or are not tuned in.

Go look for it, or choose not to.
I didn’t see anything that definitively said we tried to trade the pick.
Listening to offers doesn’t mean you’re trying to trade the pick.

However, Toronto had possibly the best player in basketball leading them. I understand the need for a bold move to keep Towns, but the only way the Wolves will ever have a chance to win a championship is with two top 10 players. Right now they have zero. Towns may end up being one, but he's not there yet. The only way they get a superstar, top ten player is through the draft, or a trade on a loaner deal.morneaumvp wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 10:26 amExactly, just look at fucking Toronto no lottery picks at all.Philo Beddoe wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 9:20 amThis type of thinking has gotten us one playoff appearance in 15 years.

Yup. that makes you right...sigh. Stop being a tool, after the pick we entertained offers. It was reported, probably posted in the draft thread and most of us were waiting for confirmation we were keeping him, which took a long time. The speculation was aided by these rumors (tweets) between froobs and media alike. You are wrong, live with it, sorry. I shouldn't have to police you on this.kilkenny wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 10:42 amAhhh, now I get it. I'm being trolled. Good one money!SO_MONEY wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 10:31 amLOL. Teams were trying to jump up to 6. We took the calls. None of them were worthy. In no way does any of this point to Rosas "desperately trying to trade Culver".The Pelicans were looking for Robert Covington and 11 for 4, Solomon Hill (who has an expiring contract for $12.8 million) and possibly a second-round pick. The Cavaliers were asking for a significant haul for 5 as well, so the Wolves moved on to the Suns at 6.
The Wolves took several calls from teams exploring the idea of trading up to 6 to see if any of the teams would make them an offer they couldn’t refuse. In the end, no offers came close to what they think they are getting in Culver, who led the Red Raiders to the national championship game at U.S. Bank Stadium in April.

Pretty sure they were just trying to soak Chicago the same way Cleveland was trying to soak them to move up one spot for their guy. The problem is nobody wanted to get stuck with White except Chicago. There wasn't enough leverage for Cleveland or Minnesota to gain anything for that one extra bump up.

Same shit as always.
"They traded up for a guy they didn't get, then tried desperately to dump their fallback guy."
Someone asks for proof of that happening and gets the "I'm not going to show you. Find it yourself."
Then it just spirals out of control into non-stop circular arguments so people can continue to bitch for the sole reason of wanting to bitch.

He drafted Culver and tried to use him to get Garland, it didn’t happen and they can keep Culver and be happy.
The same people that don’t think they tried to do anything are the same people that think Rosas saying Covington is better a 4 for them than Saric.
I hope Rosas does well in FA in the next day or two. If we walk out of this without a PG or PF, I am sure the same people will be right there to swallow whatever positive spin article the Wolves pump out the next day.
