Klay will be out this year so maybe they are just thinking of the now?
Curry is also not that young anymore either.
Very bizarre indeed though.

Why should they care about long term flexibility for where they are as a team right now when you have a core of Curry/Klay/Draymond (who won a championship, and made a finals together without KD)? When you have a core like that, you don't think 3 years down the road.KevinBaconIsNotMyHero wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 11:15 pmI’m sure from their perspective it’s just getting something for losing KD but they sapped their long term flexibility unless they think Russell is easily tradable going forward. They certainly aren’t players for Giannis like all their fans always thought when they have the cap situation they have going forward. Oh well. They fucked us. I might be out for the summer. This place is about to get toxic.Rubetube wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 11:12 pmI don't understand it either. That was the core 4 years ago. They had a better bench back then(Iguodala was Finals MVP), Draymond looks like he’s lost a step, Klay tore his ACL, and they don’t have room to add legitimate helpers unless they’re minimum guys. This isn’t close to the team from 2014-15.bubu dubu. wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 11:24 pmWhy should they care about long term flexibility for where they are as a team right now when you have a core of Curry/Klay/Draymond (who won a championship, and made a finals together without KD)? Looking back to the start, we had this all wrong. The wolves were in on D’Angelo but not Russell.

He’s a little past his prime and not in as good a shape as this vid, but could be a nice mad mardigan replacement.

Draymond looked like he lost a step...until the playoffs where he was an animal. It may be the same team from 2015, but did you expect them to just roll over and die? This is a highly competitive and prideful team. If I were a fan of them, I'd expect them to make a move like this, and would not be happy if they just rolled over.KevinBaconIsNotMyHero wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 11:31 pmThat was the core 4 years ago. Their other two options were to roll out Curry and Draymond, get Klay about half way through the season, get a 6-8 seed and grit it out.
or...
Trade away their core that made them great...that isn't going to happen, and they would lose the fans if they did so.
This was a necessary move for where they are as a team...and all they had to give up was Iggy and a first rounder?

Well I was thinking Gladiator Crowe. Wolves destroy everything I love, I lose everything, but then get inside the Wolves FO and end up destroying the Wolves, even if it means I die.

It makes sense for a team like the Wolves to gamble on something like this but not GS imo. They could have been player's for some of the biggest FAs in the next few year's.

Russell had to wait til all the other guys were gone too. KD was like the first guy. Kawhi sat on his ass and fucked it all up.
Some tough lessons hopefully learned for Rosas quite quickly the past couple weeks. Couldve been timing. The moment he knew Nets were out on dlo. Trades and sign as fast as possible. But do think Kawhi not signing hurt some of the trade willingness from teams he was talking to.

Curry's game is all skill, with little athleticism. Those guys don't have steep slopes unless injured. His dribbling and 3 point shot make him a great player as long as he's healthy.Southpaw23 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 11:41 pm Idk... with the Klay extension they’re capped tf out for a while. Re: Wolves in on D'Angelo Russell?
I said I understand why they did it. They don’t want to roll over and lose KD for nothing. I’m just saying the basketball fit is weird and the flexibility for them to add free agents they reportedly coveted like Giannis, Anthony Davis(different now that he’s a Laker), and Brad Beal is almost nil. This keeps them a top tier playoff team if Klay returns healthy but they can’t defend anyone. I think it was calculated desperation. It made sense to get something for Durant, but that’s your team for awhile and I don’t think it’ll work.bubu dubu. wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 11:37 pmDraymond looked like he lost a step...until the playoffs where he was an animal. Between Curry, Klay, and Draymond they're already at the salary cap for this season. Draymond expires next summer, but highly unlikely they don't bring him back. Cap goes up next year, but not enough to re-sign Draymond and add another max guy.RubeTube wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 11:49 pmPlease explain this. Durant signing elsewhere makes the potential to use him in a sign & trade an asset. It would be wasting a pretty big asset if they didn't use that to bring in more talent.

I still think this is a really weird move for them. I am going to read their forums and see what their fans think.
And who cares if they lost Durant? You got a couple rings out of him and he's got a serious injury and going to be 32 by the time he's back. Probably 33 before he even has a chance at being normal again.
If I was a organization, I would of steered clear of him at this point. Just my opinion.

I don't disagree about Durant. The point was they can either let him go for nothing, or arrange a sign and trade with the team Durant is going to. The best asset the Nets had for that sign and trade was D'Angelo Russell. Would be stupid to let him go for nothing.RubeTube wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 11:57 pmI see. I personally would let him go IF there is a possibility of getting some of the other guy's that someone listed above.j2j wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 11:52 pmBetween Curry, Klay, and Draymond they're already at the salary cap for this season. Draymond expires next summer, but highly unlikely they don't bring him back. Cap goes up next year, but not enough to re-sign Draymond and add another max guy.
