2017 Favorite Albums/Songs
I'll do a list probably for the albums I dug most this year, but I'm always interested to see what every other fromaniac enjoyed this year in terms of music. It can even be stuff from the past you revisited or just got into this year. Throw down some of your musical favorites from this past year!

Rock is dead. A local rock station switched over to KFAN as a replacement for their format. How the fuck do you replace Smoke On The Water with barely who gives a shit?

Really good choices. thinktank has put me on Guided By Voices and following all of their stuff and Ariel Pink is such an interesting character. The video from the original assholes thread that LordNu posted was my first introduction to him. He's got some material I think is great.

I was really impressed with this debut record from The Meltdown. Which is a band from Australia. They mix together sounds of southern rock, southern soul, blues, country and New Orleans r&b. Really enjoy listening to this album. One of my favorites from this year.

YBBR you will love GbV. So much awesome rock. Those in the know love them. Was just at Treehouse yesterday for their going out of business sale and was talking GbV with the owner.
Their new single came out this week. Space Gun. How awesome is this melody?!

I am not sure which stuff I have listened to - other than thundercat - was from this year.
I'll go with drunk for now. I feel very unoriginal as he gets my votes every year.

This one, off the top of my head. I'd have to think about it, because I'm sure there would be a couple more.

Thanks guys. Always appreciate the input and what you have been listening to.
Alex Cameron is really good. Big Thief often stuns me with how affecting their songs continue to be. And somuchyummy is friends with their lead singer Adrianne Lenker, which I think is pretty cool.
Rock on!

Oddisee. Didn't quite like The Iceberg as much as The Good Fight, but just a personal preference. The album was still excellent overall.

Mary by Big Thief is probably my favorite song of the year. (and yeah, i might be biased). and i know for some it might sound too ponderous, with not "enough" happening. but as a reflection of memories the singer has of her grandparents, i find it enormously, completely affecting. i've bawled a couple of times listening to it, and i'm not sure why.

Very good. A lot of their stuff is not my preferable brand of music, but I recognize their obvious talent.somuchyummy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2017 10:24 am Mary by Big Thief is probably my favorite song of the year. YBBR, that JTE you posted is real nice. I've never checked into him. That's impressive. What does that say about blood?
