They're finalised on the 6th, just handshake agreements at this stage. DeAndre Jordan backed out of an agreed deal with the Mavs a few year back if I'm not mistaken, so it happens, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

96. When can a team trade a free agent it signs? Do they have to keep him forever?
People need to give that guy a break.KevinBaconIsNotMyHero wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 6:18 pmI don’t mind Doogie unlike someg on WC(which is fine) but that comment reeks of what you stated.shuttlesworth wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 5:42 pm "I will reveal more at a later date" means "I will tell you more when an ESPN reporter posts the oral history of the Wolves' chase for Russell.
Doogie is great at giving you yesterday's news tomorrow, but I could see how this fits what we know.
Yep, most likely scenario.j2j wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 7:53 amDoogie is great at giving you yesterday's news tomorrow, but I could see how this fits what we know.
Wolves find out they don't have a sucker to take their salary dump, DLo says "if you don't have an alternative to clear space I'm taking the Warriors deal because there's a deadline and i dont want be stuck with the fucking Knicks."
I think it's also likely they thought they had those trades lined up but then those teams either used their cap space for better or said, "actually we're going to need more".Moses Scurry wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 8:03 amYep, most likely scenario.j2j wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 7:53 amDoogie is great at giving you yesterday's news tomorrow, but I could see how this fits what we know.

Are you dense? He hasn't signed the contract. Wake the eff up mlhouse. This rule takes effect on July 6th after he signs.mlhouse wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 9:16 pm96. When can a team trade a free agent it signs? Do they have to keep him forever?
Generally a team only has to keep a player for three months after signing a contract or December 151 of that season, whichever is later. This does not apply to draft picks, who can be traded 30 days after signing (even if signed using cap room in a later season -- see question number 49). For sign-and-trade transactions, the initial trade which completes the sign-and-trade obviously is allowed, even though it occurs right after the player is signed. The trade restriction in a sign-and-trade applies to the first subsequent trade.
The person who is dense is you. Are you claiming that the Durant-Russell sign and trade will not happen? Otherwise, a signed free agent cannot be traded until December 15.kilkenny wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 9:14 amAre you dense? He hasn't signed the contract. Wake the eff up mlhouse. I get it, but why do you care who still wants to post here? Just don't open the thread. Simple. Right? The Replacements wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 11:50 am Why are people still posting on Russell. That ship has sailed. Let's move on.
I check the board to see if there's anything relevant. Nothing but whining going on. You would think Russell was one of the top 25 players based on the anger. Not getting Russell may be a blessing in disguise.Mplsfonz wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 12:10 pmI get it, but why do you care who still wants to post here? Just don't open the thread. Simple. I do agree with the last part.Spoiler:
I don't think you understand what is going on. Unless you believe that Russell and Durant will not sign on 7/6, everything you are stating is meaningless dribble.kilkenny wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 10:08 amNever said that idiot. Why don't you read the thread rather than spouting off.![]()
Let me ask you this. Has the "sign and trade" been signed? Simple question.
You're an idiot mlhouse. Plain and simple. May be some of the poorest reading comprehension on the site! Congrats.mlhouse wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 6:17 pmI don't think you understand what is going on. You understand this, right?
Buddy boy I think your statements are pure projection. You are making up stuff like "has the sign and trade been signed". Doesnt matter. Unless you think it will not be signed between Brooklyn and GSW, then it really doesn't change much. In the 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% chance the Nets and Warriors complete the trade, Russell cannot be traded until 12.15.2019. Period. End of story.kilkenny wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 6:58 pmYou're an idiot mlhouse. Plain and simple. May be some of the poorest reading comprehension on the site! Congrats.
Yes, absolutely it is a reasonable questionOriole81 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 7:14 pm I think the thought process is that Russell wanted to sign here, but got tired of waiting for us to free up the space, so he took GS’ max offer just to ensure that he could guarantee his funds since other deals were moving fast.
Russell hasn’t really gone out of his way to talk about how excited he is to be headed to GS, and the pundits seem to still be on the angle that Russell is not long for GS.
So if the deal is able to be amended (the big if that nobody can seem to confirm is possible or not) then the thought COULD be that Russell gets rerouted here and we would send acceptable compensation to GS. So our question with if something could happen before the 6th is not about Russell backing out entirely but instead just about amending our two ends of it.
It’s a reasonable question.
