Donte and NAW almost shot us into a win in the pivotal game 4 that ultimately sank us. NAW scored 23 and shot 9/15 5-8 from three, and Donte scored 21 and shot 7/11 5-8 from three in a 2 point loss.

Almost. Key word almost. Doesn’t make up the 13 crappy games he played before that in the playoffs.
Him and Naz have lots to prove in the postseason l.

I’m not blaming the loss to OKC on the bench at all. It was a team meltdown. Similar to Dallas the year before.HeHateMe wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2026 1:54 pmYou still blaming the bench for losing last year!?aztimberwolves wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2026 11:01 pmAlmost. Key word almost. But numbers don’t lie and DDV had a putrid playoffs and Naz had his 2nd straight disappointing playoffs.

Does anybody see a sceanario of us resigning Donte? We now know we will have to go all out to land Ayo. Does this mean we will have to let Donte go? I would hate that last night would be tge last time Donte plays for us.

Re: Donte DiVincenzo
His deal is guaranteed thru next season - which he will likely miss most of. So it's a can we can kick down the road a bit - and then, he'll be looking at a new deal after rehabbing from a tough injury. I think we can likely keep both.
All Time Draft 2025
PG - Kidd, Iverson, D Johnson
SG - Reggie, Hill, Richmond
SF - Kawhi, Hawkins, Ellis
PF - Hakeem, Cowens, Perkins
C - Wilt, Alonzo, Thurmond
There is little difference between the memory of a real event and the memory of a dream.

He's going to be 30 next year. I wouldn't go more than two years - I wonder if anyone else would.somuchyummy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2026 4:54 pm His deal is guaranteed thru next season - which he will likely miss most of. Re: Donte DiVincenzo
Dame at 35 years old with the same injury got 3/42 million with the 3rd year being a player option to get paid to sit this season, have one guaranteed year, and one year as an option. Granted there wasn't a lot of teams with cap space this past summer to offer anything, and he's still getting a lot of money from Milwaukee.Ask Not wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2026 6:39 pmHe's going to be 30 next year. Jace frederick
@JaceFrederick
Anthony Edwards is the best player. But, as multiple people noted last night postgame, Donte DiVincenzo is Minnesota’s heart and soul. Which is why it crushed the Wolves to see such an unjust injury.

Re: Donte DiVincenzo
If he's interested in a NAW type of deal (4 for 60), I would have interest assuming he looks fine a year from now. I would guess he's back next March at some point.. Tatum tore his May 12, was back early March... if Donte can return mid march next year that would be fantastic for the playoff stretch. If he's willing to take a more team friendly extension while injured, that would be fine with me too. A slight raise from what he's making now knowing Ayo is going to be the starter over him going forward.

He was our best plus minus player and the only one to be above +300 this year, and when he went down, he was leading in that category in the playoffs. He really busted his ass in the off-season last year and it showed. Prayers for what sounds to be a great dude and teammate. He deserves good things.

I was just starting to like him. He was a huge disappointment last year. Well wishes to the DD family. Going to be a long road to a potential return to the game.BuDG123 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 12:23 pm He was our best plus minus player and the only one to be above +300 this year, and when he went down, he was leading in that category in the playoffs. Finch mentioned how well of a season he had and how well he did stepping in as the starting pg. He had a great year... and at his salary it was a HUGE bargain.BuDG123 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 12:23 pm He was our best plus minus player and the only one to be above +300 this year, and when he went down, he was leading in that category in the playoffs. If we don't extend Donte, I wonder if he would even return next season if he able to like Tatum was. Is it better for him to return with no contract guarantees to show what he can do, or is it better that he just sits and makes sure he doesn't re-injure it?

Re: Donte DiVincenzo
Dame, Tatum and Hali all went down last season within a 57 day period with the same injury DDV has - Dame Apr 27, Tatum May 12 and Hali June 22. I know it's a certain doc and a new technique that worked on Tatum, but even so - his return is pretty remarkable. Every injury is different, every body is different. I'm not sure how far along Dame and Hali are in their rehabs, but neither came back for the regular season like Tatum did when he returned to play on Mar 6. I am not under any assumption that we'll see Donte next year - likely not in the regular season, but then if he's back - how do you reintegrate a guy for the playoffs who has been in the mix all season?

Well Dame is old, Halis was 2months later than DD and had zero incentive to come back since Indy was so bad vs Tatum knowing they had a good shot at a playoff run. But yeah Still a big stretch both for his body and athleticism and confidence in pushing off and for the team to integrate next season.somuchyummy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2026 1:14 pm Dame, Tatum and Hali all went down last season within a 57 day period with the same injury DDV has - Dame Apr 27, Tatum May 12 and Hali June 22. There is a distinct possibility that we never see Donte play in a Wolves jersey again. He’s an UFA in 27-28boxter432 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2026 1:50 pmWell Dame is old, Halis was 2months later than DD and had zero incentive to come back since Indy was so bad vs Tatum knowing they had a good shot at a playoff run. Re: Donte DiVincenzo
Very possible that he just ends up being salary filler in part of a bigger trade.

I don’t care what you have to give up as long as the name isn’t Ant.

Agreed. Plus he is about to be 30. There is no telling if he will ever be the same player after that type of injury.Mplsfonz wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2026 9:04 pmWho's going to give up much for a broken player who won't play for at least half the season?Small Hands wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2026 3:32 pmGood point… I think they need to make a splash in the offseason. He won’t play here again imo and he has no value now.
