Is it weird the economy is tanking even though the government is saving tons of money?

I am surprised I'm losing all of my money because I thought that after the DOGE department cut all those jobs and fired all those people, that something in the tens of billions of dollars were saved. It doesn't make any sense that the economy is tanking if the government just saved like $80 billion

This is a contraction, as opposed to growth.

I don't get why we are tanking and going fast into recession after saving all that money by firing all the federal workers.

I don't get why they're saying there will be supply chain shortages and empty shelves. We literally just saved many billions of dollars thanks to DOGE, so why don't we just buy everything we need?
